Compound Material is a light, weather-proof multipurpose material. It can be used indoors for decorative panelling, exhibitions, exhibition stands or displays and outdoors as durable facing, e.g. for door panels. Compound Material takes the form of a sandwich panel made from aluminium and plastic. It is made up of 3 permanently bonded layers (0.5 mm aluminium, 3.0 mm polyethylene, 0.5 mm aluminium). Compound Material has good shear rigidity, flexural strength and buckling strength. The rigidity is provided by the 0.5 mm thick aluminium outer sheets made from AlMg1. Consequently, the core material (PE) does not need to be taken into account when calculating the permitted stresses.
The aluminium outer sheets have a matt finish and are anodized. Machining one side of the plate also makes it easy to bend the Compound Material to the desired shape.
